Due to the surge of pets and animals being abandoned and/or abused, many animal shelters in Toronto are being overflowed. These animals then begin to have this misconception that the reason as to why they were abandoned and abused is due to them being “aggressive” animals. With this misconception, these animals are at a low-risk of being adopted and cared for. This then causes the animals to age without being adopted, and end up on the shelters’ euthanization list.

If we can design for a change to lower the overflowing numbers of animals on the shelters’ euthanization lists, then we will be able to allow these abandoned and abused animals a second chance at life. La Renaissance, is an animal rescue that allows these animals to get the therapy that they need, in a space that is made for support, compassion, and hospitality to improve the lives of people and animals.
